An original piece, sketched circa 2019

Awakened in poetry,

And flinched as I seek,

Through verses as many

I’d struggle to speak.

Like a river so wide,

So beautiful and deep,

Like a series of novels

With an endless intrigue.

Like innocence in mankind

Past the stage of a tot,

Like carnations in winter

Or a life that’s unfraught.

Like a shadow before me

On a bright summer day,

Like shame amidst glory

Or each curse as I pray.

Now stands here before me

A vision steered clear,

Victory unknowing in

Love’s battle with fear.
