Nemesis

The universe has paved for her

An unfamiliar road;

Her lips unveil a soul that longs

For joy I’ve never known.

Hand in hand, we walk from here

Our hopes clung onto the night;

The rope ‘round our feet slows not her lead

And ghosts walk out of our sight.

“Hear the screams, they’ll come for us!”

“Let’s take this road then,” said she,

“We’ll never reach without a fight” — 

“Thus fight this journey shall be”.

As comes around the starry hours,

Two souls through toil and tire;

My music plucks a muddled tune

Whilst she, a ball on fire.

We travel as a paradoxical pair,

Her grounded in the world’s wide dome;

With myriad realms to wander and share,

While I dream of a place called home.
